Profile

Project Management, within the department of Planning, Design, & Construction, (PD&C) manages/coordinates the design and construction of new and remodeled major and minor capital projects, as well as deferred maintenance projects. The Senior Project Manager/Deferred Maintenance (DM) Program Manager organizes the unit’s DM project management portfolio and monitors the progress of the entire DM maintenance project portfolio, and acts as lead project manager for various DM projects. The Senior Project Manager/Deferred Maintenance Program Manager develops and maintains project scope, schedules, and budgets, working with Campus Planning and Facilities Services to ensure timely, successful completion of all DM projects. The Senior Project Manager/Deferred Maintenance Program Manager contributes to the unit’s success by offering ideas that improve process, morale, technical expertise, customer service and the general betterment of PD&C.

*The full salary range for the Senior Project Manager is $84,100.00 - $157,500.00 annually. The expected pay scale for this position is up to $130,000 annually. *

Advanced ability to manage contractors and maintain compliance to the agreed-upon scope of work and budget.

Knowledge and experience to effectively direct and review the preparation of design and construction documents, review and approve contractor submittals, and to effectively resolve field problems during construction.

Excellent computer skills and knowledge of various computer software programs including, but not limited to MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, Outlook and Outlook

calendar, and construction project management software.

Advanced analytical, organizational and problem recognition/avoidance/resolution skills.

Advanced written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills, including highly effective negotiation skills and highly developed political acumen.

Advanced project management skills to effectively manage highly complex projects, or highly specialized and critical project component.

Advanced knowledge in one or more complex, technical areas of construction, such as mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, other infrastructure or specialty fields.

Preferred Qualifications

Related experience and/or knowledge of U.C. Policy and Procedure related to facilities, planning,

design and construction.

Knowledge of project management processes for minor and major capital projects with an institute of higher education or similar environments including, but not limited to, research laboratories, instructional space, residential facilities and infrastructure projects.

Familiarity with UCR, including its infrastructure, rules, regulations, policies and short and long strategic building plans.

Familiarity with design and construction contracts, contract law, public contracting code, and construction claims procedures. Ability to draft modifications to standard agreements consistent with Regental Policy and in coordination with legal counsel.

Advanced knowledge of the organization, including its infrastructure, rules, regulations,

policies and short and long range strategic building plans.

Advanced knowledge of building and construction, design, construction contract administration and California Building Codes, including advanced understanding of industry practices, or deep expertise in a highly specialized and critical discipline.

Knowledge of Division of State Architect (DSA) and State Fire Marshal (SFM) code and policy requirements for higher educational construction
