Job Details:

The IT Vendor Performance Analyst provides review and direction for vendor activities, ensuring that the vendor's performance meets expectations. The performance manager monitors the day-to-day vendor operations and performance against service-level agreements (SLAs) and key performance indicators (KPIs), examines measured results for problem determination and root cause analysis, and works with the vendors on continuous improvement. Additionally, he or she takes appropriate action to correct failed activities, functions and processes. The individual IT Vendor Performance Analyst also assesses internal customer satisfaction levels with selected vendors, and continuously guides service activities to maintain and enhance the gains achieved through corrective actions. The IT Vendor Performance Analyst sets vendor/service provider performance direction and priorities and prepares new SLAs as required.

REQUIREMENTS:

EDUCATION: A bachelor's degree is typically required, preferably in an analytical field (such as general business, economics, computer and information science, mathematics, statistics, finance, or other technical areas). Project Management Institute (PMI) training is desired, but not required. Six Sigma experience is desired, but not required.

EXPERIENCE: Three to five years in IT service delivery, IT contract management or general vendor management is preferred. Experience with project management, sourcing, business analytics, IT service management, vendor relationship management, procurement or prior vendor performance management background is a plus. Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) experience desired, but not required.

COMPUTER SKILLS: Microsoft Office suite including PowerPoint Excel and Word. Experience with Microsoft Project, Planisware or other project management applications is a plus.

COMMUNICATION SKILLS: Strong verbal and written communication skills as well as the demonstrated ability to actively listen are required. We seek an individual with the ability to bridge communications between the IT organization and its business customers, with a focus on developing an understanding of what the IT organization and its vendors can deliver, and how the deliverables can be measured most effectively. The ability to influence others and move toward common vision without formal authority is a must.

SPECIAL SKILLS: Ability to manage across organizational boundaries, with the goal of understanding political drivers and influencers. Knowledge of schedule management processes and tools is a plus. Strong analytical skills are required an understanding of basic statistics and a proficiency in Excel. Experience in data analytics and data visualization tools is highly desired. Strong organizational and management skills are the foundation of the IT vendor performance manager's job.

SCOPE DATA:

Vendor Performance Strategy - Introduce a robust and standardized vendor performance management program that aligns with business objectives to deliver results. Develop a structured vendor performance management framework to implement consistency across your vendor portfolio. Establish and communicate clear and concise vendor performance management metrics by creating effective vendor management scorecards and dashboards. Create and issue satisfaction surveys that encompass both internal and vendor 360-degree feedback, and act on concerns. Demonstrate a clear line of sight from business objectives to vendor performance management metrics when creating reports. Define the contractual performance levels and assist in setting internal customer expectations for performance.

Vendor Performance Review - Perform overall contract oversight for performance management, which includes benchmarking, SLA and operational-level agreement (OLA) tracking. Monitor and report performance results to all levels in the organization, as appropriate, and adjust the format, detail and content of your results for different stakeholders. In multivendor environments, oversee or manage service integration across multiple internal and external providers.

Vendor Performance Analysis - Collate and analyze vendor performance data, and identify key trends, such as innovation, flexibility, corporate and social responsibility, and market penetration. Vendor scorecards should include assessments of performance, contract, relationship and risk against objectives, outcomes, measures, and targets. Review SLAs/OLAs and SLA/OLA changes for adherence to customer needs and that they benchmark to market best practices. Understand service levels and their relationships to vendor pricing.

Vendor Performance Reporting and Reviews - Communicate business results and benefits through scorecards and dashboards. Review vendor performance with executives, key stakeholders and vendors, and define and implement a performance improvement plan. Conduct oversight of special projects delivered by external service providers.

Vendor Performance Improvement - Engage the business units to understand the vendor's effectiveness in meeting the business needs. Ensure that vendors perform root cause analysis for failed performance metrics and that corrective actions are implemented to resolve performance issues. Ensure that vendors' continuous improvement activities across all services are being performed and monitor the corrective action process. Implement levels of control using benchmarks and other monitoring tools to ensure that IT-service, steady-state operations are achieved and maintained. Provide an issue-escalation path to resolve vendor performance disputes. Provide input to evaluation and selection, and contract negotiations for IT acquisitions.
