Facilities Project Manager II

to join their team. The Cyberinfrastructure Project Manager position reports to the Executive Director of Cyberinfrastructure within the Information Technology (IT) department. This position is responsible for managing new and ongoing cyberinfrastructure projects within IT and charged with managing project charters & scope, timelines, resources, and driving projects to completion.

The Cyberinfrastructure Project Manager coordinates work across UM units, stakeholders, vendors, and work crews. They simultaneously manage multiple complex enterprise level projects with varying budgets, timelines, objectives, and reporting requirements. The person in this role must have strong organizational planning and communication skills, a broad understanding of IT systems, and a good understanding of construction principles and terminology.

Key duties and responsibilities include:

Plans, implements, and evaluates change within a project and within the organization using change management principles, strategies, and techniques

Align and set expectations with stakeholders on the scope of work and deliverable

Collaborate with engineers, architects, etc. to determine project specifications

Negotiate contracts and reach agreements with external vendors

Evaluate projects and prepare detailed reports to stakeholders and IT leadership about strategy, adjustments, and progress.

Determine needed resources (manpower, equipment and materials) from start to finish with attention to budgetary limitations

Upon completion of training, the incumbent will have developed:

Strong Project Management track record in leading Institutional transformations focused around technology projects

Working knowledge of construction procedures, material, and project management principles

Familiarity with quality and health and safety standards.

Required Skills

Ability to exercise best practices in project management throughout all project phases, including project scope, schedule, resource procurement and allocation

Ability to independently manage multiple projects and priorities while simultaneously managing external stakeholders and holding internal teams accountable to deadlines

Strong verbal and written communication skills; ability to communicate in both a technical, business, or layperson manner depending on the target audience

Strong ability to work in a team of diverse individuals and to share knowledge with peers

Ability to supervise and guide the work of vendors, sub-contractors, and project related staff

Ability to exercise sound judgment and decision making

Ability to establish and maintain positive and productive business relationships with others

Ability to follow University of Montana policies and procedures and adhere to all applicable industry codes, standards, and health/safety requirements.

Minimum Required Experience

BSc/BA in engineering, building science or relevant field.

Preferred Qualifications

PMP Certification (PMP, CAPM, PMI-PBA, PgMP, or PfMP)

Experience as a Project Manager leading enterprise level projects preferred

Knowledge of an industry standard project/construction management software (TeamDynamix preferred, or an equivalent)
